The 16th World Congress of the International Fuzzy Systems Association (IFSA) and the 9th Conference of the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology (EUSFLAT) were jointly held by summer 2015 in Gijón, Asturias (Spain). The aim of this conference was to bring together researchers (both theoreticians and practitioners) all along the world working on fuzzy logic, fuzzy systems, soft computing and related areas. Thus, scientists, engineers, students, and professionals discussed, exchanged ideas, fostered interaction between industry and academy through building multidisciplinary linkages, and disseminated the most recent advancements in the field.
